PSALM 25:4
"Show me your way, LORD. Teach me your path"

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Maths and Calculation

Maths Curriculum

School uses the mastery approach to teaching maths and follows the 'White Rose' scheme of work. The calculation and problem-solving policies are on the website and we strongly encourage the use of models and images to help children gain an understanding of complex mathematical concepts.

Maths is taught for a least an hour per day in Year 1 upwards and through continuous provision and discreet lessons in Reception. Emphasis is placed on the teaching and learning of multiplication and numbers facts (including x tables), so that pupils are fluent and confident in this area.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 also have short additional Maths Mastery sessions each day.

Arithmetic (both mental and written) and x-tables are taught discretely as well as being incorporated into lessons to give opportunities to apply this knowledge. Towards the end of year 4, pupils take the Multiplication tables check.

Application of mathematical skills is encouraged across the curriculum.
