PSALM 25:4
"Show me your way, LORD. Teach me your path"

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

PE

Physical Education provides pupils with the opportunity to focus on their physical health and fitness through a variety of sports and activities, thus promoting an understanding of their bodies in action; it also gives them the chance to explore their own strength, agility, flexibility and stamina.

PE promotes positive attitudes in pupils towards a healthy lifestyle and we enable them to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives. This has had an impact across the whole school and is evident via the fact that pupils look forward to PE lessons, and extra-curricular clubs are always well attended.

In EYFS, pupils work on their physical development through a variety of child-initiated-learning through continuous provision and adult-led activities. The areas covered in the PE curriculum for Key Stage 1 focus on the development of fundamental movements through multi-skill lessons. Throughout the lessons the pupils are set individual and group tasks in order to develop additional skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership.

These skills are then developed in more specific topics throughout Key Stage 2 where pupils revisit and build on the knowledge, skills and techniques acquired in the previous key stage and use them across a large variety of sports. Pupils are also challenged to think, create and solve problems whilst working as a team and individually within competitive and non-competitive environments. This enables pupils to develop and experience different roles within a team and recognise the importance of each role
