February 2019

Class 5 are still learning all about the Vikings. This week they designed and made Viking jewellery out of clay after carefully researching what it would look like. They are very proud of the Viking jewellery they made. In PE they practiced their Viking stick dancing demonstrating longboat rowing skill as well as Viking village life.

Wow Day January 2019

For our WOW day we started by writing our names using the Viking alphabet.

We found that some names were easy to read but some were really difficult.

Mrs Brown helped us bake some Anglo –Saxon biscuits and some Viking bread. We ate them in the afternoon. The bread was very heavy but tasted like the bread we eat today but the biscuits were very crumbly and although they were nice tasted unusual because there was no sugar in them (we learnt that we didn’t have any refined sugar until much later and the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons would have used honey to sweeten food).

What a great start to our Traders and Raiders theme.

Class 5 WOW day

Volcanoes erupted in Class 5 on Monday!

For our WOW day on Monday we made volcano cakes (thanks to Mrs Brown’s brilliant baking skills) and then decorated them with icing to make it look like the larva running down the sides of the volcano.

We worked in groups to make a volcano and then in the afternoon we make our volcanoes erupt!

Class 5 Theme Day

In our introduction to our new theme ‘Mighty Metals’ we had great fun thinking about all this robotic. We made an enormous robot who now proudly sits in our classroom keeping a close eye on us working, we decorated robot biscuits and got very, very sticky in the process and we wrote some stories with robots in them. It was a fantastic day and we are looking forward to learning more about The Iron Man and what adventures he gets up to.
